Spine-Tingling Music

Have you ever considered how music sets the mood of a movie, particularly horror, mystery or suspense?  A musical theme associated with a villain may remain in one's memory for a long time.  A screechy violin sound always reminds me of the shower scene from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.

Here are some suggestions of music that will move you out of your comfort zone:

Carlos, Wendy.  Shining

Carpenter, John.  Halloween

Goldsmith, Jerry.  Omen

Herrmann, Bernard.  Psycho

Herrmann, Bernard.  Vertigo

Komeda, Krzysztof.  Rosemary’s Baby

Williams, John.  Jaws
