Amazon Alexa Skills Bootcamp
Alexa, the voice service that powers Amazon Echo, provides capabilities, or skills, that enable customers to interact with devices in a more intuitive way using their own voice. Learn various skills including playing music, answering general questions, adding items to a shopping list, setting an alarm or timer.
Amazon pros will offer two classes at the Library: the first session is from 1-3 pm (register online) and the second session runs from 3-5 pm (register online). The classes are free and registration is required as seating is limited.
“Being able to interact with a computer with my voice is hard to comprehend; I still find it hard to believe,” said Mark Mathias, founder and co-chair of Maker Faire Westport and president of Remarkable STEAM. “Yet people now do it every day. It’s hard to believe this was not possible just a few years ago and we’re only starting to see what this technology can do,” he added.
“Experts from Amazon will come and show people how to create Amazon Skills,” said Manager of Experiential Learning at the Westport Library and Co-Chair of Maker Faire Westport Alex Giannini. “They will leave having created an Amazon Skill and will be able to create more skills that tie into Alexa Voice Services. We look forward to hearing what ideas people have before, during and after the class.”
