Cookbook Club: Tastier Salads

Monday, Nov 5, 2018 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Bored by the same old salad? Learn to think about vegetables creatively from Ilene Rosen, co-author of Saladish: A Crunchier, Grainier, Herbier, Heartier, Tastier Way with Vegetables. New York Times Food Columnist, Melissa Clark, wrote what “Ms. Rosen does for salads is what Brooks Headley did for veggie burgers: elevates them from the quotidian to the thrilling.”

Ilene Rosen is the chef, creative director, and co-owner of R&D Foods, a specialty grocery shop featuring her prepared foods that opened in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, in 2013. Previously, Rosen spent fifteen years as the savory chef at City Bakery, where she honed her craft of creating a seasonal salad bar that gained a cult following. In her first book, Saladish: A Crunchier, Grainier, Herbier, Heartier, Tastier Way with Vegetables, Rosen reveals her genius approach to mixing vegetables, nuts, grains, and cheeses so they add up to something better than a salad.
