Domestic Violence Among Teens
A short clip from the One Love Foundation will kick off a discussion of unhealthy vs. healthy dating relationships. According to the One Love Foundation, "#ThatsNotLove campaign introduces the “Couplets,” a series of digital shorts so named for the graphically appealing animated pairs who use humor to demonstrate the difference between a good relationship and an unhealthy one. Funny and teen-accessible, the couplets tackle 8 common warning signs (Intensity, Obsession, Isolation, Disrespect, Blame, Control, Anger and Put-downs) with one objective: to help young people more readily recognize the warning signs of an unhealthy or dangerous relationship and stand up to them before they escalate." The panel discussion will include WPD Lt. Jillian Cabana, DVCC Advocate Nicole Dodge, and DVCC Attorney Advocate Allison Roach.
The Westport Domestic Violence Task for is a community awareness group that supports the Domestic Violence Crisis Center, which services our area, in its mission. The WDVTF is comprised of community members, professionals, members of the Police, Fire and Human Services Departments, mental health professionals, advocates and members of the interfaith community. They meet monthly and host events or donation drives each year.
