Children's Book Author Joan Verniero on the Life of a Writer

Joan VernieroJoan Verniero, CT-based children's book author, freelance writer, educator, and ghostwriter, talks about the personal aspects of her writing life. Topics include how she molds story day-to-day with attention to character, what's come before and what will follow, as well as revision and language. Also, she is careful of the need to keep herself fresh to the end in mind, body and spirit.

Verniero is the author of 25 books. Her fiction and biography have been published by HarperCollins Children’s Books, American Psychological Association/Magination Press, Pen Women Press, Psychological Perspectives and Women & Recovery. Collections of myths, legends, folktales and biblical stories appear through Black Dog & Leventhal/Workman. She teaches children's literature at Naugatuck Valley community College, lectures at Hartford College for Women, and consults at The Discovery Museum.
