Maker-in-Residence Gar Waterman: Designing & Building a Mobile Office

Gar WatermanAs the age of the cubicle worker tethered to a computer wanes, the need for mobile spaces takes off. People are as flexible as their wireless connections, and their spaces must fit this new model of mobility for working and playingon the fly. Join Maker-in-Resident and engineer Gar Waterman in designing and building mobile spaces for the 21st Century in a series of workshops beginning with a planning session on Saturday, January 25, from 10 am to 1 pm. Construction and assembly sessions will be on Tuesdays, 3-8 pm and Friday, 10 am-3 pm, through Friday, February 28. The final presentation of the product will be on Saturday, March 1 at 1 pm.

portable officeHave you ever wished you had an office that you could pack up and take with you to set up easily somewhere else? Would you like to come up with smarter ways to use spaces you already have? Do you have design ideas for mobile spaces? Can you wire flexible spaces for power? Do you have good ideas? Do you know how to knit a privacy screen? Do you like working with others and want to learn? Are you an artist or architect? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, these workshops are for you.

The first meeting on January 25 will be a planning session, followed by sessions every Tuesday from 3-8 pm and every Friday from 10am to 3 pm, with the final presentation of the product on March 1 at 1 pm.
