The Anne Eyes Science Lecture: Award-Winning Science Writer Carl Zimmer on Parasite Mind Control
Carl Zimmer is a columnist at the New York Times, where his weekly column “Matter” appears, and also writes a blog, "The Loom," for National Geographic Magazine. In his 13 books and numerous essays, articles and blog posts, Zimmer reports from the frontiers of biology, where scientists are expanding our understanding of life. He is also a guest on radio programs such as National Public Radio's "Radiolab" and "This American Life." His most recent books are Evolution: Making Sense of Life and The Tangled Bank: An Introduction to Evolution, Second Edition.
Today, he will discuss his current article in National Geographic, "Mindsuckers," which explores parasites, their complexity, adaptation and interaction with the host's mind. He will also talk about Ebola and other viruses.
