Screening & Discussion of "James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket"
Karen Thorsen, producer and director of the PBS American Master's award-winning documentary James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket (2013, 90 mins.) will lead a discussion following its screening. Without using narration, the film allows James Baldwin to tell his own story: exploring what it means to be born black, impoverished, gay, and gifted—in a world that has yet to understand that “all men are brothers.”

Karen Thorsen began the project when Baldwin was still alive, working with documentary legend Albert Maysles. When Baldwin died, Maysles passed the directing torch to Karen. At this event, Thorsen will
provide a quick introduction to the film and be part of the discussion following the screening.
