Enjoy a brief introduction by filmmaker Doris Jacoby and a film. This is a part of a series of five films running on Thursdays at 3 pm, July 6-August 3 at the Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Avenue.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance was directed by John Ford and starred John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin and John Carradine. It qualifies as a Western, but has been called “the greatest American political movie.” It’s about honesty, gun control, corruption, freedom of the press and racism. Four stars from Ebert.
