ted.com logoAssistant Director Bill Derry looks at TED.com, a website with free lectures on a variety of subjects from some of the world's experts, including education and health. They offer about 100 of its TED Talks, the polished 20-minute presentations for which the conference is renowned.

The TED organization (TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design), founded in 1984, runs conferences for movers and shakers. They address an increasingly wide range of topics within the research and practice of science and culture. The speakers are given a maximum of 18 minutes to present their ideas in the most innovative and engaging ways they can.
