Maker Faire Westport 2017
Maker Faire Westport is part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new. It is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students and commercial exhibitors.
Events to see include a Virtual Reality Safari, Amazon Alexa Demo Bar, Nerdy Derby, Human Foosball, 3D printers, artists, musicians, K-12 and college student activities, robots, crafts and more. In addition to the typical makers, be sure to see the 9.5 foot tall Hulkbuster that was a hit at New York Comic Con and a popular “escape room” created especially for the Maker Faire.
Look under the big tent for Westport Library Executive Director Bill Harmer and take a virtual tour of the new design for the Library. Also under the big tent, former Makers-in-Residences, sculptor Chris Crowe, astronomer Kevin Green, filmmaker Connor Einarsen, stop-motion animator Jhonny Parks and prop master Jonathan Russo will showcase their latest projects.
Put your detective skills to the test with the hour-long ESCAPE ROOM, designed by the Westport Library’s MakerSpace coaches. Running three times over the course of the day, this Nikola Tesla-themed Escape Room is a must-visit attraction. Sign up for a session when you arrive at the Faire.
And be sure to drop by our MakerSpace, where we will be showing off our latest projects, 3D printing, and new tech, including our CNC router.
Food trucks will be available and plenty of family-friendly events. Free admission, parking and shuttle bus.
Parking Map. Produced by the Westport Library and Remarkable Steam, the event is free and open to the public. The Westport Mini Maker Faire is the first and largest Maker Faire in Connecticut, and the biggest single-day event in the state. Last year, 8,500 people attended this family-friendly faire; this year’s participation is expected to reach 10,000. Makers are all ages and range from technology enthusiasts to crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, artists, science clubs, students, authors and commercial exhibitors.
