Westport Mini Maker Faire

The Mini Maker Faire in Westport showcases invention, creativity, and resourcefulness in a celebration of the maker mindset in a hands-on environment.

maker faireThis year’s Mini Maker Faire will feature the latest in 3D printing, a judged teen "Geek-Your-Fashion" show, Arduino board and Raspberry Pi applications, ham radios, DIY biology, computer-assisted drawing (CAD) demonstrations, hands-on nano technology activities, woodworking, vintage electronics, robotics, remote-controlled aircraft, student projects, unusual tools and machines, composting and rocketry.

REGISTER for a two hour ILLUMINATE YOUR STYLE workshop at the FAIRE from 11-1 in the Seminar Room. You can then wear what you create and enter in the GEEK YOUR FASHION Show at  2:45 in the McManus Room.

Drones, wearables, bitcoin, Google Glass … new technologies are coming thick and fast. David Pogue, founder of Yahoo Tech (and former NY Times tech columnist), gives a funny, thoughtful look at which of these much-hyped gadgets will find a place in our lives—and which will never fly.

Maker Wedding: 1:15-2:00— Kerstin and Vijay Rao give a lively show-and-tell about their recent wedding, which combined improv comedy, a sword fight, model-making, Arduino programming, calligraphy and paper arts. A video will be shown of the reenactment of The Princess Bride, featuring the local comedy improv troupe, Funny Side Up. See the tableau of the film's landscape for their cake; the hand-drawn calligraphy, paper arts, and some of the costumes.
