WestportREADS 2017: Rescue a Dog...And Sit and Give Paw
In Bettyville, George Hodgman adopts a black dog from a shelter who plays an important role as a companion and therapy dog. In honor of this dog, Westport Animal Shelter Advocates (WASA) volunteers and dog trainer Susie Collins of Sitting Pretty obedience training will discuss their advocacy efforts for homeless dogs in CT. In addition to providing some background on WASA’s formation and their mission, dogs in need of homes as well as rescue ambassadors will be on site to “speak” their stories. Also, hear about what you can do to assist CT’s growing homeless dog population.
In conjunction with WASA’s presentation, there will be a pet food drive. Attendees are asked to bring cat or dog food (both canned and/or dry.) The pet food will be distributed and used by dogs impounded at Westport Animal Control, WASA fosters and pets in need in the Fairfield County community.
