WestportREADS: Perspectives on Gatsby—An Intergenerational Discussion

Saturday, Jan 12, 2013 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

WestportREADSPerspectives on Gatsby is an intergenerational discussion at the Westport Center for Senior Activities presented by two senior citizens, Sybil Steinberg and Dick Leonard, and two high school students. Steinberg, a contributing editor at Publisher’s Weekly, draws a standing-room-only crowd at the Library when she presents her annual list of the best current books. Leonard taught English at Staples High School for 37 years, and teaches short story seminars at the senior center. Click here for directions to the Senior Center.

Special Opportunity: Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald lived in Westport briefly in 1920, and to celebrate their time here, former SHS English teacher Dr. Gerry Kuroghlian will give a talk about their experience in town. Twenty lucky winners will be chosen in a drawing to attend the February 2 talk, which will be at the house the Fitzgeralds rented on South Compo Road. You will receive an opportunity to enter the drawing at each WestportREADS event attended.

WestportREADS is funded by Jerry A. Tishman.
