MakerSpace Open House: Make Something Today!

The MakerSpace has lots of equipment and 3D printers to use in the Library. Drop by from 1 - 3 pm to try some of our coding games, Little Bits and robots and to sign up for 3D printing lessons. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

It's almost Halloween and you don't have a costume yet?? That's okay--we've got you covered! Bring your idea and materials to any or all of 3 workshops and we will help! Projects may require hand sewing and using hot glue guns. Theatrical costumer C. Delari Johnston and Team MakerSpace will be there to help.
For ages 8 to adult; children 8 – 10 years require parental assistance.
Limited to 12; free; register online.

C. Delari Johnston is a freelance theatrical costumer. She has worked on a wide range of projects, from design and construction for community theater at Stamford Theatre Works to regional theater work for Long Wharf Theatre, Sacred Heart University and Ivoryton Playhouse in CT and Glimmerglass Opera in NY to Broadway. She was most recently part of the small army of artisans working on the nationally acclaimed Broadway production, "Hamilton".

Advanced Robotics Club: LEGO NXT/EV3

robotics Build and program robots with Lego EV3 or Lego NXT kits with staff from CompuChild. Projects may include: a music box, silly walk robot, cars, drawing ‘bots, and toys/animals.

LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set is a hands-on, cross-curricular STEM solution that engages students by providing the resources to design, build and program their creations while helping them develop essential skills such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
Grades 4-8.

LEGO Robotics Club

Fusion360 CAD Workshop Series: Grades 6-12

Join MakerSpace inventor Mike Altis to learn how to design with Fusion 360, a powerful and intuitive 3D design software. By the end of this workshop, participants will have a 3D printable design which may be printed in the MakerSpace. 

Workshop participants must bring a laptop and three-button scroll wheel mouse to the workshops and download the software in advance.  It can be downloaded for MAC or PC here and is free for students, hobbyists, and businesses that make less than 100k a year. Since the curriculum is cumulative, participants should commit to attend the all four workshops.

This free series is offered at two different times, for two different age groups.

  • Adults: from 7-8 pm; limit of 4
    Wednesdays, September 26, October 3, 10 & 17
    Register online. Free with $30 refundable deposit.  
     
  • Grades 6-12; from 6-7 pm; limit of 6 
    Mondays, October 15-29 & November 5.
