PYTHON Coding TinkerShop: Grades 4-6

We will use Python Turtle Graphics to learn programming, specifically loops and conditions. Start by learning to draw basic shapes, then create spirograph patterns, a meteor and a rocket ship. This is a cumulative program. Registration is for all 4-days. For grades 4-6 in Fall 2019

Pattern Sewing Workshops: Ages 10-Adult

Advance to the next sewing level by learning to read and cut patterns. This INTERMEDIATE LEVEL workshop is conducted by freelance theatrical costumer, C. Delari Johnston. Bring your own machine or use one of 3 provided by the Westport Library. Indicate whether you want to use one of the Library machines when you register. Ages 10 & up

Participants MUST have completed a machine sewing workshop at the library or equivalent. Runs Wednesdays, July 17, 24, 31 and August 7, 6:30-8 pm. This is a cumulative program. Registration is for all 4-days.

She has worked on a wide range of projects, from design and construction for community theater at Stamford Theatre Works to regional theater work for Long Wharf Theatre, Sacred Heart University and Ivoryton Playhouse in CT and Glimmerglass Opera in NY to Broadway. She was most recently part of the small army of artisans working on the nationally acclaimed Broadway production, "Hamilton".

Create a comic with Gregg Schigiel, creator of graphic novel Pix, a regular contributor to SpongeBob Comics, penciller and assistant editor at Marvel Comics, and illustrator. Working with a simple story framework, participants will create their own two-page comics—storyline, illustration and dialogue. Come learn with a pro! 

The project is cumulative; please attend for all 3 days. Register online for this free program for those who attend. Gregg Schigiel's worked as a penciller and assistant editor at Marvel Comics, character artist for Nickelodeon Consumer Products, and has illustrated of a litany of licensed story/chapter/coloring books. He is a regular contributor to SpongeBob Comics. In 2014, he self-published (under his Hatter Entertainment imprint) Pix: One Weirdest Weekend, the first of a series now published by Image Comics.

In addition to making comics, Gregg produces and hosts the comics-centric podcast Stuff Said and produces and co-hosts the Tom Cruise movie-centric podcast "Cruisin’ Together”. He likes doughnuts, enjoys comedy, and makes sure he drinks plenty of water.
