DID YOU OR YOUR FAMILY
GROW UP AT THE LIBRARY?

As we celebrate 100 years of the Westport Public Library in our community, we would like to compile the recollections of families who “grew up at the Library.”  As long-time members of the Westport community, we invite you to gather your extended family members and share your memories of the Library as a child, a young adult, or a parent or grandparent—or all of the above!

  • When did you get your first library card?
  • Did you frequent the Library as a teenager?
  • Did you bring your children every week?
  • What did you love most—going to concerts, storytimes, using the picture file, or discovering authors?
  • Tell us about your life at the Library.

We’d like permission to use your submission in publications, such as an annual report, histories of the Library, and other celebratory materials.  If you send us your memories by February 29, we’ll be able to use them for the gala Birthday Celebration on April 6, 2008 (save the date!), but if not, we will be collecting them all year and adding to the Library’s history.

Submit your writing to MarySue Waterman at mwaterman@westportlibrary.org.  We suggest anywhere from 250 to 1000 words.  If you have photos, contact MarySue by email or phone at 291-4858 and she will get them scanned and returned to you.
