Artist to Artist: Richard Frank & Miggs Burroughs Talk

Please see full event listing for date.

In conjunction with the ongoing Great Hall exhibit, Westport photographer Richard Frank discusses his work with Artist-in-Residence and illustrator/photographer Miggs Burroughs. Hear Frank—a real raconteur—talk about his work, including his seminal photo of Muhammad Ali, which helped validate his decision to pursue photography as a career.

Frank's career in photography was originally triggered by a chance, last-minute decision to take a photography class in his last semester of college. He went on to enroll in an MFA program at Ohio University, but his stay was cut short by the Draft. Even so, while at OU, he had learned the essence of the craft of photography, started establishing his point of view, and began identifying the American social landscape and portraiture as his preferred subjects.

Opening Reception for Riverwalk Hallway Exhibit: "TRANSFORMED"

Please see full event listing for date.

A collaboration with Westport's nonprofit Beechwood Arts & Innovation, this exhibit presents selected work by visual artists from Beechwood's Spring 2016 Arts Immersion "Transformed" Salon. The artists were asked to transform an existing canvas--theirs or someone else's--in any way and document the process with photos. The photos were then made into Aurasma-app "videos," enabling viewers to see the transformation. Opening reception: Thursday, September 15 from 6-7 pm in the McManus Room.
