Sewing with Machines 101: Adults

Come to one session (either Thursday, February 8 from 6:30-8 pm OR Monday, February 12 from 6:30-8 pm). Learn basic sewing machine techniques with a simple project like a stuffed animal, a drawstring backpack, a pillow or a pencil/tool roll pouch. Workshops conducted by freelance theatrical costumer, C. Delari Johnston.  Bring your own machine or use one of 3 provided by the Westport Library. Register for ONE session and indicate whether you want to use one of the Library sewing machines (limit of 3). Adults

She has worked on a wide range of projects, from design and construction for community theater at Stamford Theatre Works to regional theater work for Long Wharf Theatre, Sacred Heart University and Ivoryton Playhouse in CT and Glimmerglass Opera in NY to Broadway. She was most recently part of the small army of artisans working on the nationally acclaimed Broadway production, "Hamilton".

Fusion360 CAD Workshop Series for Adults

Join January Maker-in-Residence Vladimir Mariano to learn how to design with Fusion 360, a powerful and intuitive 3D design software. By the end of this workshop, participants will have a 3D printable design which may be printed in the MakerSpace. 

Workshop participants must bring a laptop and three-button scroll wheel mouse to the workshops and download the software in advance.  It can be downloaded for MAC or PC here and is free for students, hobbyists, and businesses that make less than 100k a year. Since the curriculum is cumulative, participants should commit to attend the all four workshops.

This free series is offered at two different times, for two different age groups.

  • Grades 6-12; limit of 12: from 6:30-7:30 pm, Tuesdays, January 9, 16, 23 & 30. Register online.

Vladimir Mariano is the founder of Desktopmakes.com and is the instructor of the bestselling Udemy course 3D Designing for 3D Printing with Fusion 360. He is cofounder and president of the Fairfield County Makers’ Guild, an independent makerspace in Norwalk, CT and founder of CT Robotics Academy. He teaches 3D printing and design at the makerspace as well as electronics and programming classes. Many of his classes and projects combine the worlds of art and tech. Vladimir also teaches several maker related classes at local libraries and schools and was the coach for a local robotics team. He has a degree in Geology from West Virginia University and a RobotC Programming Instructor Certification from Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy.
