The Westport Library has a strong historical identity as a center for knowledge and learning, a resource for personal development, and a place to gather for cultural and community engagement. The journey of lifelong learning is supported with a comprehensive array of books, databases, learning resources, and the guidance of our knowledgeable staff.
With nearly 1500 programs each year, the Library also provides educational and cultural enrichment that reflects the vibrant community that we serve.
For the Creative...
With the advent of Verso Studios, the Library builds upon the storied tradition of Westport as a deeply creative community. We support regional professionals and entrepreneurs with their audio and video projects, and provide exceptional learning opportunities and workshops for students, hobbyists, and adults interested in developing highly valued skills for today’s increasingly challenging workplace.
From 3D printing for entrepreneurs in our MakerSpace to STEAM programs for our younger patrons, the Library has numerous opportunities for hands-on learning and experimentation.
For the Job Seeker and Entrepreneur...
The Library’s business services help job seekers, career changers, and entrepreneurs navigate their future. From resumé tips and cover letter templates to business plans and funding, there are online resources, in-person workshops, and lots of networking opportunities.
For the Conversationalist...
Patrons have a variety of interests and passions, and we have discussion groups and programs to cater to many of them. Foreign language speakers of Hebrew, Italian, Chinese, French, and Spanish gather to converse regularly. Avid readers enjoy the PageTurner discussions and book clubs can get recommendations for their next read from our staff.
Those interested in civic affairs, business, and social issues attend programs featuring thought leaders in the Trefz Forum and participate in lively Q & A sessions.
For the Young Learner...
Our Children’s Librarians know how to find the perfect book for every young reader! There are programs daily that engage young minds in reading, singing, talking, playing, and writing to improve language skills and reveal the magic of books.
The Library also provides special programs during school holidays and over summer vacation to keep children engaged in academic fundamentals. And our STEAM programs nurture children’s curiosity about the world and help develop problem-solving skills that are important for future success.
