Join us for a mindfulness and creativity workshop to cultivate calm and focus through awareness and compassion-based practices. This session will introduce the fundamentals of mindfulness with periods of guided practice, a fun, creative encounter and opportunities for reflections and questions.
Janet Slom, MFA is an artist, author, educator, and social entrepreneur. She serves as adjunct faculty for Lehigh University’s Global Village and has taught at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and as a guest speaker at the University of Miami. She is the originator of Mindfulness-Based Self Expression (MBSE), a program she developed to inspire new levels of creative awareness while building on the core principles of modern mindfulness as systematized by Jon Kabat-Zinn. MBSE blends experiential awareness with creative expression to facilitate new levels of artistic and personal growth, resilience, skillful communication, and wellness. Her book, An Artful Path to Mindfulness, instructs readers through an experiential curriculum that integrate mindfulness meditation, creativity through art, and mind/body practices. Janet received her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and MBSR teacher certification from the University of Massachusetts. Originally from South Africa, she currently resides with her family in Westport, CT and Miami, FL. Her artwork and installations have been exhibited throughout the world and are included within the online resources accompanying her book.
