Magic of Mistakes: A Guide to Professional and Personal Growth

Wed, April 26 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Join marketing expert, philanthropist, and musician Rob Fried for a two-part workshop on overcoming the fear of making mistakes, leading you to better success in business and life, with resilience. The workshop will address the question of how we handle our mistakes and embrace the reality that mistakes are a regular occurrence. The group will meet on Wednesday, April 12, and Wednesday, April 26, 11 am to 12 pm in Brooks Place. It is expected that participants will be able to attend both sessions.

Please register here.

Rob is a founding partner at Bridgewater Associates, where as head of sales and marketing he helped grow the firm to become the largest hedge fund in the world. In addition to developing valuable skills in sales, relationship management, and workflow, Rob also spent decades in the unique culture at Bridgewater, where he gained a deep perspective on how people can apply the magic of mistakes to daily life.

For the first session, Rob will share his own biggest mistakes, explain what he learned from them, facilitate a discussion with personalized practices for how participants can convert mistakes into learning and growth. The second session will give participants an opportunity to uncover further examples in their own lives to bring back and share more deeply, providing shared learning for the group.

Today, Rob is a singer, songwriter, bassist, producer, philanthropist, radio talk show host, and architect/founder of the successful live themed concerts series Band Central. Founded in 2005, Band Central is a private philanthropic organization whose mission is to help local nonprofits in the Connecticut area maximize their revenue potential. Band Central effectively accomplishes this in a multifaceted collaborative approach fueled by Rob’s extensive investment background, robust local network, passion for music and personal desire to “do good.” Band Central’s mission to combine philanthropy and music is reflected in its mantra to ‘show up, get down and do good.’
