Myths, Truth, and Recommendations for College-Bound Students with IEPs or 504s

February 24, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm EST

This virtual program, presented by Staples HS Guidance and The Westport Library, is for parents/guardians of students in grades 9-11 seeking more information about the role of a student’s disability in the college search and application process. Allen Tinkler, an educational consultant who specializes in college placement for students with disabilities, will address a variety of issues including the differences between high school and college services, levels of support offered at various colleges, student preparation for the college experience, and the application process.

A special education teacher by training, Allen has spent the last twenty-seven years developing his expertise in advising families of students with disabilities on post-high school planning. Allen has visited close to 400 colleges throughout the U.S., meeting with admissions and support services offices, and worked with approximately 500 families on college placement. We look forward to this informative program as a resource for students and their families.
