Navigating the Employer Mine Field in the #MeToo Era

September 4, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Robert G. Brody, founder of Brody and Associates, LLC, and Katherine M. Bogard, an associate with Brody and Associates, will discuss personnel workplace challenges that must be managed for small family owned and closely held businesses to Fortune 500 companies. Register online.

Start with the "#MeToo" movement which was not just abuse based on sex, but abuse based on power. Then consider the February murder of 5 employees in a manufacturer's HR office. Then turn to the more daily challenges such as avoiding discrimination against a pregnant employee; addressing an employee who uses medical marijuana; and finally, deciding which restroom is proper for a male employee transitioning to a female or vice versa. All of this and more will be discussed.

Robert Brody, who graduated from Kenyon College and Vanderbilt University School of Law, has been in private practice for over 30 years. As a counselor, he aggressively solves client personnel issues using common sense and thirty years of experience. He was selected to the Connecticut Super Lawyer List in 2012 and has been consistently chosen every year since. In 2018, Bob was selected by the Connecticut Law Tribune to receive an award for "Best Mentor" at the Tribune's fourth annual Professional Excellence Awards. Winning one of these awards is considered an opportunity for Connecticut to celebrate its best and brightest. He is also involved in the community as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; prepares and serves dinner to the residents of the Gillespie Center of Westport; and is coach, manager, and sponsor for local youth sports teams.
