Maker Activities: Sinking Ships: Buoyancy and Beyond Grades 5&6
July 23, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

For this building challenge you will build a boat with limited supplies (straws, duct tape and plastic wrap) and we will see how many "people" (pennies) it can hold in a tub of water. Use the engineering design process to improve your bouyancy based on testing results.
If there is time, we will make a rubber band powered boat with cardboard and duct tape.
This Zoomed program uses supplies from your home and is for children in grades 5&6 with minimal adult assistance and will be repeated for grades 3&4 on July 30.
Register here.
BONUS: Check out CAMP EXPLORE with Bob Ballard who is known for discovering the wrecks of Titanic and the battleship Bismarck on July 22 at 4 pm.
