On a Sunday afternoon, enjoy an intimate performance in the Library's Trefz Forum when we bring the Stamford Symphony Wind Quintet to our stage. The musical program, A Celebration of All Our Voices, will include:
Ibert Trois pièces brèves
Valerie Coleman Red Clay, Mississippi Delta
Hindemith Kleine Kammermusic Op24 No 2
Ravel Le Tombeau de Couperin
D'Rivera Aires Tropicales (excerpts)
A wind quintet comprises, flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon. Unlike the string quartet with its homogeneous blend of sound color, the instruments in a wind quintet differs from each other considerably in technique, expression and musical character. A fun, spirited program demonstrates the versatility of the ensemble and the creativity inspired from many composers.
The Stamford Symphony's wind quintet members are: Elizabeth Mann, flute; Melanie Field, oboe; Todd Palmer, clarinet; Cynde Iverson, bassoon; Lawrence DiBello, horn.
Tickets are required. Cost is $25 and are available here.
This program is a partnership between the Stamford Symphony and Verso Studios at the Westport Library
