Nancy Moore portrays women who are neither conventionally beautiful nor engaged in conventional activity. Her goal is to communicate women’s strength and resilience, convey a sense of community among women by often grouping them together, and invite viewers to create a narrative for each one—to envision a life beyond the frame.
