Kicking off September at noon on the 8th, please join Dan in conversation with Westport's impressive and community minded Chief of Police, Chief Foti Koskinas. He grew up in Westport and graduated from Staples High School in 1989. Koskinas holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of New Haven and is working toward a master's in business administration. Koskinas began his career as a Westport police 
officer in 1996. In 2016, he was promoted to chief of the department. In October of 2020, he earned the Executive Certificate in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Throughout his career, Koskinas has served as a K-9-unit handler and supervisor, member of the honor guard, member of the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team, and the Westport Police/Fire Dive Rescue Team, and various assignments with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. In 2009, the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association awarded Koskinas its Medal of Valor for heroism for his role in rescuing a kidnapping victim from an armed murder suspect on I-95. He is the recipient of the department's Medal of Valor, four commendations, six Honorable Police Service Awards, two Lifesaving Awards, four Unit Citations, and an Investigator's Ribbon.
