Reports to: Marketing Director

The primary objectives of this position: To support the Library’s efforts to raise awareness of its resources and services and to encourage attendance at its exceptional programs and special events. The Web and Social Media Associate should excel in writing across traditional and digital channels and be experienced in strategic development and execution across all social media and web channels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Provide input into the development of a multi-layered marketing plan and serve as an author and key implementer of email and e-newsletters, website content management, and social media marketing.
  • Develop website and engaging social media content that speaks directly to our patrons and differentiates the Library from others in the market.
  • Engage with patrons through social media. Utilize appropriate metrics and analytics to monitor and adjust marketing efforts to improve their effectiveness.
  • Monitor emerging social media trends and changes to existing social media platforms to ensure that the Library’s digital efforts remain current/ahead of the curve. In partnership with others on the marketing communications team, ensure brand alignment of all marketing and communications materials.
  • Implement the Library’s digital strategies, including publishing high-value content across channels.
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to regularly update website content to ensure its usability, relevance, and accuracy.
  • Work with marketing colleagues and across the organization to support the development of engaging content and key messages to further the Library’s marketing goals.
  • Demonstrate the Library’s core values in all dealings with colleagues, volunteers, patrons, and members of the community.
  • Create actionable plans to both grow and maintain Library followers through popular social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Make optimal use of the Library’s media capabilities to support the development of engaging content.
  • Coordinate the design, development, and implementation of web pages, web-based applications, links, forms, and digital content activities.
  • Design, create, produce, and maintain web pages using relevant software packages. Some familiarity with coding and basic coding skills are preferred.

Requirements:

  • 3 Years’ experience in Communications or similar, with demonstrated experience working with and growing social media engagement using numerous channels including Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Google Analytics, blogs, etc.
  • Knowledge of search engine analytics. Professional certification in Google Analytics strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with publishing and design software to maintain the Library’s websites.
  • Proficient with using multi-social posting programs such as Hootsuite and HubSpot.
  • General knowledge of Search Engine Optimization and internet ranking for web content.
  • Relevant experience determining a target audience and developing unique marketing campaigns to capture the attention of that audience.
  • Strong understanding of marketing strategy and how to utilize these concepts throughout various forms of outreach.
  • Strong collaboration skills, excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, and the ability to thrive in a relationship-oriented culture.
  • Experience with website design and content development.
  • Excellent time management skills and an ability to balance many projects at once.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail orientation, and demonstrated initiative.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Curiosity, creativity, a sense of urgency, innovative thinking, and strong research ability and the ability to identify threats and opportunities in the e-marketing realm.
  • Limited remote work will be considered.
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
