Ann Rodwell-Lawton, associate director of the Domestic Violence Crisis Center and a local mental health clinician will discuss the generational impact of trauma on children with Liz Modugno, a licensed alcohol and addiction counselor. Their presentation will include:

  • Basic domestic violence  information
  • Statistics on generational impact of trauma
  • The domestic violence intersection with child abuse and neglect
  • How children are exposed
  • Short- and long-term reactions/responses
  • How to talk with children about domestic violence in age-appropriate way
  • Services provided by DVCC, Westport Human Services and other mental health professionals to help and support children.

Ann Rodwell-Lawton is the Associate Director of the Domestic Violence Crisis Center and oversees DVCC’s community initiatives, counseling department, and quality assurance efforts. Previously, she was the Director of Education, Training, & Outreach at the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury for five years. Ann earned her Master's in Social Work from Hunter College with a concentration in community organization, planning and development. Ann has extensive knowledge of youth primary prevention programming and has been trained in many evidence-based programs including Safe Dates and Shifting Boundaries.  

Liz Modugno is Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcohol and Addiction Counselor and the owner of Aspire Counseling of CT. Liz has been in the field for over ten years and during that time has been the Clinical Director of two local Intensive Outpatient Programs while practicing as a clinician in Westport for the last eight years. Liz specializes in addiction, mental health, traumatic experiences and life changes. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing therapy.
