For rising 7th through 10th grade students
Registration required
In this one day on-site only workshop, coders will be introduced to LightLogo, a microworld where you make a variety of light patterns with only ten lines of code. This program encourages algorithmic thinking--learning how to express a sequence of things that express itself over time.
Participants must wear masks and follow social distancing protocols. This event is held in the Forum, on the main floor of the Library.
Requirements: Window or Mac computer (NO Chromebooks) with USB port; software required prior to start of workshop. Specialty supplies will be available for registrants to pick up from the Westport Library.
Camp Explore is made possible by the continuing generosity of Roz and Bud Siegel. Please visit our website for a complete listing of Camp Explore workshops.
For rising 6th through 9th grade students
Registration required.
We will explore geometry and programming techniques through two browser-based programs on computers, laptops, or Chromebooks (no touch screens): TurtleArt, which uses coding blocks and ArtLogo, a text-based program. At the end of the workshop we will create and wander through a virtual gallery of our creations. We can download and remix each other's work with permission from the creator. This is a bright and visual method to learn coding basics.
In- person and remote sessions available for this cumulative, three-day workshop. Attendance at all three sessions is recommended.
