Artist to Artist: Heidi Palmer & Miggs Burroughs Talk

Please see full event listing for date.

In conjunction with the ongoing Great Hall exhibit, Westport painter Heidi Palmer discusses her work with Artist-in-Residence and illustrator/photographer Miggs Burroughs. Palmer's paintings suggest a story or narrative that leaves the details for viewers to supply, each in their own way.

Palmer focuses in her work on light, air and the meaning of time. Light is always the point of departure for each painting; it governs her compositions, defines form and is the catalyst for delving into the ephemeral effects of air and atmosphere, which clarify the painting's sense of place. And, for Palmer, who is really a visual storyteller at heart, the element of time has become increasingly important, referencing memories, beginnings, endings and longings―what we all share as human beings.

Photographer Richard Frank: A Personal Review of Your Photography Portfolio

Please see full event listing for date.

In conjunction with the ongoing Great Hall exhibit, Westport photographer Richard Frank will be offering free, 20-minute reviews of photography portfolios by appointment on Tuesday, January 3, from 10 am-3 pm, in one of the small conference rooms in the Great Hall. To register for one of the free 20-minute personal review sessions, CLICK ON THIS LINK.

Frank's career in photography was originally triggered by a chance, last-minute decision to take a photography class in his last semester of college. He went on to enroll in an MFA program at Ohio University, but his stay was cut short by the Draft. Even so, while at OU, he had learned the essence of the craft of photography, started establishing his point of view, and began identifying the American social landscape and portraiture as his preferred subjects.
