Book Sales & Donations

Book Sales

Westport Library Book Sales are a long-standing community tradition, powered by a dedicated team of volunteers, and raising invaluable support for the Library annually. Each year, generous patrons donate tens of thousands of used books for resale to benefit the Library.

The Library's Book Sales are operated by Westport Book Sale Ventures, an independent non-profit enterprise with the dual social mission to support the Westport Library, while providing meaningful employment for adults with disabilities. For more information, visit www.westportbooksales.org.

Books for Sale

Now you can shop for gently used books all year-round, at the new Westport Book Shop, located at 23 Jesup Road, right across Jesup Green from the Library!  For store hours, visit www.westportbooksales.org

You can also shop 24/7 at the Westport Book Sale Online Store

The Book Sale also holds periodic Book Sale Events, one or more times a year. Join the Book Sale’s email list to receive notice of Sale Events.

Donate Your Books

Your donation of very gently used books, vinyl records, and other media may be made Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 4 pm. We will be closed Sundays and any day the Library is closed.

Bring donations to the big gray Book Donation Center in the Library’s Upper Parking Lot.

For details about how to donate your books, and what materials are accepted for donation, please visit the Book Sale’s website at www.westportbooksales.org. A receipt acknowledging your donation for tax purposes will be available at the time of donation.

Please, do not leave book donations on the ground outside the Book Donation Center. Unfortunately, any materials left outside will be recycled, not resold, due to exposure to the elements.

We are very grateful to our generous community of readers and book donors, and we thank you for your support.

Volunteers:

New book sale volunteers are always welcome!  Volunteers are needed year-round to sort, research and price donated materials; to assist at the Westport Book Shop; provide merchandising and customer support at book sale events; and to supervise and train our employees with disabilities. For information regarding volunteer opportunities, please email: info@westportbooksales.org

In the meantime, if you have any questions you can reach out to Robin Powell at RPowell@westportlibrary.org or visit the Westport Book Sale ventures website here:  https://www.westportbooksaleventures.org/
