Volunteer

For more than 100 years, The Westport library has been at the heart of the town’s cultural activity, and we are always looking for friends! Volunteering here is a wonderful way to share your enthusiasm for the Library, meet new and interesting people, and give back to your community.

Volunteers at The Westport Library, like our staff, work to ensure exceptional patron experiences and adhere to the following fundamental library principles:

  • Excellent public and customer service are the hallmark of our Library.
  • Empathy and respect are key.
  • Treat all patron information with the utmost confidentiality.

Everybody who works in and with the Library is expected to demonstrate these values.

To learn more about becoming a volunteer, please review the opportunities below and contact Sally Presutto at spresutto@westportlibrary.org (for adult volunteer opportunities) or Jeanmarie Ryan at jryan@westportlibrary.org (for youth and teen volunteer opportunities).

Book Sales

Westport Library Book Sales are a long-standing community tradition. The Big Spring and Big Fall Book Sales are powered by a dedicated team of volunteers, and they raise invaluable support for the Library annually. Each year, generous patrons donate tens of thousands of used books for resale to benefit the Library.

The Library's Book Sales are operated by Westport Book Sale Ventures, an independent nonprofit enterprise with the dual social mission to support The Westport Library while providing meaningful employment for

Verso Studios Crew Call Training Program

Join Crew Call Here

Verso Studios’ Crew Call program gives community members the opportunity to be trained in live, hands-on video production. Crew Call began in 2021 as a six-week training course and has developed into a wide-ranging program in which participants record and edit the programming and events produced on the Library’s Trefz Forum stage — and occasionally on location. Crew Call welcomes community participants from all levels of experience and age. Complimented by a world-class programing department and audio recording team, an ever-growing number of its participants have weekly opportunities for video production training.

Volunteering for Programs and Events

With unmatched program and event capacity, we are looking for front-of-house volunteers to support evening and weekend events in the Trefz Forum.

We need volunteers to help with events and programs. Volunteers assist staff, audiences, and talent at author talks, performances, and lectures. Front-of-House volunteers welcome patrons, distribute programs, help with seating, and assist with minimal setup and refreshments.

Contact Sally Presutto at spresutto@westportlibrary.org for more information.
