Marketing & Business Strategy Internship (Unpaid)

The Westport Library is pleased to offer an unpaid internship opportunity for a student  interested in pursuing a career in marketing, communications, business analytics, digital strategy, or a related field.

This hands-on internship will provide valuable insight into how a modern marketing and communications function operates within a dynamic, customer-focused institution. Working closely with Marketing leadership and staff, the intern will gain exposure to marketing strategy, audience engagement, data analysis, digital communications, content development, and performance measurement.

The internship is designed to provide practical experience in a mission-driven organization that serves thousands of community members through innovative programs, events, and services.

T he Marketing Data & Audience Segmentation Intern will support the marketing team by using Active Campaign to segment subscribers based on their engagement and interests. This includes reviewing email campaign performance, tracking link-click activity, and creating audience segments to help deliver more relevant communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Review email campaign engagement data in ActiveCampaign
  • Categorize engagement based on links clicked and content
  • Create and maintain audience segments for targeted marketing campaigns
  • Assist with database organization and email list management
  • Support reporting on audience engagement trends

What You Will Learn:

  • Email marketing strategy and audience segmentation best practices
  • Marketing automation and CRM management using ActiveCampaign
  • How customer behavior data informs marketing decisions
  • Data analysis and reporting techniques for digital marketing
  • Best practices for improving email engagement and personalization

Duration: Approx 3 weeks, working 20 hours per week.
