Thank You for Supporting The Westport Library!

This year's annual appeal is officially over, and it was one of our most successful yet! Thank you to everyone who gave to this year's campaign to support the events and programming that make this Library so special.

While the appeal is over, we still welcome your support! The Town of Westport funds 77% of the Library’s operating budget. The remaining 23% is raised through special events like BOOKED for the evening and private donations like yours.

Thank you for supporting The Westport Library. Together, we make magic happen.

Did you know that every year, The Westport Library faces a critical challenge? While the town generously supports our operations, there remains a 23% gap in our funding. This gap is what allows us to offer the diverse programs, resources, and services that make the Library so special.

Gifts of Stock & Securities

The Library gratefully accepts the transfer of securities directly from you or your broker. Learn more by expanding the information below.

Securities are an excellent asset to give to the Library. You receive an income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock, you may avoid capital gains tax on the sale of the stock, and the stock may avoid estate tax at your death.

Life insurance policies, which have a cash value, may be donated to the Library. You receive an income tax deduction for the value of the policy on the date of the gift and the insurance policy is removed from your estate at death.

The Library can work with your attorney to help you establish a charitable remainder trust, or “CRT.” Under a CRT, you can make a gift to an irrevocable trust retaining an income stream for life. At the end of your life, any property remaining in the trust passes to the Library. You receive an income tax deduction for a portion of the gift and the trust asset is removed from your estate at your death.
