Westport’s own Dan Woog brings his popular blog “06880: Where Westport Meets the World” to life, via the Verso Studios at The Westport Library – recorded LIVE in the Trefz Forum! His guest this week is Janice Egan, director of development and philanthropy at the Museum of Contemporary Art Connecticut (MoCA\CT), which offers cutting-edge contemporary art exhibitions, diverse performing arts experiences, and comprehensive art education programs for people of all abilities. At MoCA\CT, Egan leads efforts to strengthen donor relationships, expand philanthropic support, and advance the museum’s mission of enriching lives through art, education, and creative expression. Deeply passionate about the arts and community engagement, she has played a role in strengthening and restructuring the organization, serving as a key liaison to the board to align philanthropic vision with institutional goals and advance MoCA’s mission to ensure its sustained leadership in the arts. Her career reflects a dynamic blend of entrepreneurial vision, corporate innovation, and philanthropic leadership. Egan began her professional journey at Brooks Brothers, helping to build a new division in men’s bespoke clothing, and went on to establish and grow her own successful private tailoring firm. She later directed U.S. operations for an international Anglo-French luxury brand textile company, creating and expanding a new business division and serving as the only woman on the company’s international financial and design boards. She then transitioned into higher education, bringing her talent for relationship-building and strategic growth to Lafayette College. Over nearly two decades, she rose through senior advancement roles, leading parent and family engagement, managing major donor portfolios, and spearheading national fundraising initiatives. Egan draws on this wealth of experience to deepen community connections and inspire new innovation plans of support for the arts, reflecting a consistent passion: building communities of support, connecting people through shared values, and creating opportunities for transformative impact through art and culture.
