Event Details

Yale New Haven Health and the Smilow Cancer Hospital present an informative seminar that explores the ways artificial intelligence can help doctors scan for cancers and treat patients. Sanjay Aneja, MD, will be at the Library to discuss how his work uses AI to find hidden patterns in medical scans that can predict how cancers will behave, analyze patient voice recordings to better understand symptoms and quality of life, and help doctors match patients to the most appropriate cancer clinical trials.

Why You Should Come

Find out how AI is shaping the future of medicine from trusted experts who put high quality, patient-centered care into practice with the aid of advancing technology. Explore what’s possible now, what’s coming next, and what it all means for patients and families.

About the Speaker

Sanjay Aneja, MD, is a radiation oncologist and researcher at Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital who studies how artificial intelligence (AI) can improve cancer care. He is an Assistant Professor of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale School of Medicine and treats patients while also leading research on using computer algorithms to learn from medical data.

Dr. Aneja trained at Yale and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and has a strong background in analyzing large datasets. His work focuses on teaching computers to recognize patterns in medical images, patient voices, and clinical data to improve decision-making in clinical oncology. Dr. Aneja’s work is supported by major organizations including the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, and aims to make cancer care more precise, efficient, and patient-centered.
