In this three-day participatory workshop you will be challenged to build crazy input devices that connect to your laptop and allow you to interact with Scratch projects in fun and engaging ways. On day one we will learn about the Makey Makey, conductive materials, and explore rapid iteration as we design various game controllers. Day two will be spent turning cardboard into musical instruments that we connect to our computer to make sounds and songs. Finally, on day three, we will get super physical and design some game inputs that really get us moving.
Requirements: Computer with USB port, ability to run https://scratch.mit.edu in your web browser, and have a Scratch account set up before the workshops.
Josh Burker is a Creative Technology Teacher at Marymount School in New York City and is the author of The Invent to Learn Guide to Fun and The Invent to Learn Guide to More Fun, both of which inspire maker to explore the intersection of crafting and technology through creative projects.
