Join us for a special multi-generational workshop and performance event with the drum-centered Afro-funk fusion ensemble The Lost Tribe, led by percussionist Jocelyn Pleasant.
In the workshop portion, led by Jocelyn and her co-collaborator I-SHEA, participants are encouraged to explore the power of the drum - the voice, the messenger, the teacher and communicator of stories and traditions. Participants will learn basic drum techniques and patterns from West Africa, the Caribbean, and U.S.A. and are encouraged to improvise and express their voices through the power of the drum. Be prepared to move and have fun!
The workshop will be followed by a performance with the full band!
Workshop begins at 2pm and the performance begins at 3pm.
