RESCHEDULED: Fundamentals of Competition Math

Course Details
This course invites students to ask thought-provoking questions and dive into engaging challenges that examine math beyond the classroom. Through collaboration and creative exploration, students will learn how to build on each other’s ideas and tackle complex concepts with confidence.
This class is only for students in Grades 4-8.
This course will have two sessions: Sundays, March 15 & 22.
Why You Should Come
This course mainly targets the MATHCOUNTS, American Mathematics Competitions (AMCs), and Math Olympiads, offering a great introduction to competition math and opening up the field for students to participate in individual and team competitions, such as through middle school and high school math teams. Through problem-solving collaboration, this course also aims to foster a positive community of mathematicians who can compete in future contests.
Students in school districts without competition opportunities can be registered during this course.
About the Instructor
During middle school, Emily participated in various math competitions, including MATHCOUNTS and the AMCs. She received the Distinguished Honor Roll in the AMC 8, an award given out to the top 1% of participants nationally. She placed 3rd in the States MATHCOUNTS Countdown Round and contributed to three top 10 nationwide team finishes in GAIM (Girl's Adventure in Math).
