Mandarin for Young Learners

Event Details
For students in Grades 2-4
SpeakEasy, a completely student-run organization dedicated to promoting biliteracy among youth, will be hosting introductory Spanish, Mandarin, and French instruction for young learners. These fun sessions, led by students who have earned the Connecticut Seal of Biliteracy, will provide children with the foundation for world language learning. You're welcome to stay and learn along with your child!
Registration for these classes is encouraged, but not required. Each day will focus on a different language, so you don't need to attend all three sessions! Please register separately for each day.
SpeakEasy is led by Staples High School students Natalia Garment, Jessie Zhang, and Neha Singh.
Look out for SpeakEasy’s bookshelf of children’s biliteracy books prior to the lessons!
Why You Should Come
Learning a second language improves one's memory, ability to multitask, career opportunities, and travel readiness. Language is easiest to learn when young, so sign up to acquire all the cognitive and social benefits of biliteracy!
SpeakEasy Schedule
Spanish: Monday, February 2
Mandarin: Tuesday, February 3
French: Wednesday, February 4
