Join former World Trade Center securities specialist Tom Canavan at The Westport Library as he shares the story of his escape from the collapse of the Twin Towers on September 11 with Westport RTM member Andrew Colabella and author, historian, and National September 11 Memorial volunteer Christie Seyglinski.
Canavan worked on the 47th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center. As he escaped the wreckage of September 11, 2001, he was caught under the collapse of the adjacent 110-story South Tower. Digging his way out of steel and debris, Canavan became one of 19 people to survive the collapse of the Twin Towers.
Christie Seyglinski grew up in New Jersey, living in the shadow of the Twin Towers. The tragedy of September 11 had a profound impact on her, and when the Memorial opened, Seyglinski became a volunteer. Since then, she has been a close friend to Tom Canavan, whose testimony of that morning is something that should never be forgotten.
