PRIDE Comedy Night: Resistance, Laughter, and Community

Join us for a night of laugher and community, hosted by Jamie Machotka, featuring NYC-based LGBTQ+ comic Calvin S. Cato and headlined by award-winning comedian Mina Hartong!

Host for the evening, Jamie Machotka, is a seasoned storyteller, comedian, and improviser who brings humor, heart, and wit to every stage he steps onto. Originally from Chicago, he has spent the past 20 years making audiences laugh across the country. His work has taken him into schools, companies, and community centers where he blends entertainment with insight, telling stories that are both engaging and thought-provoking. Machotka’s writing has been featured in In LA Magazine, and he has lent his voice to the airwaves as the host of Have You Heard? A Listening Project, a podcast dedicated to meaningful conversations around hearing loss. As a proud transgender artist, his perspective enriches his comedy, offering audiences a fresh, authentic, and deeply personal take on life. Jamie is a devoted husband and father of two, balancing family life with his passion for performance.

Named one of Time Out New York’s LGBTQ Comics of Color to Watch Out For, Calvin S. Cato has dazzled audiences around the world. His on-air and radio appearances include Oxygen, Netflix, Sirius XM, RISK!, WIRED Magazine, and an unaired pilot for Vice Media called Emergency Black Meeting. His comedy has been featured in numerous festivals and events including San Francisco Sketchfest, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Gotham Storytelling Festival, Brooklyn Pride, and FlameCon. In early 2021, Calvin was published in Kweendom, an anthology of essays by queer comedians and entertainers. In 2022, Calvin concluded a three-month run hosting a daily talk show on RushTix.com.

Award-winning comedian, educator, and funny lady Mina Hartong (Joe’s Pub, West Side Comedy Club, Olivia Travel) is an international headliner and educator who has performed on four continents and toured for more than 20 years. When she is not on stage, Mina enjoys teaching stand up comedy, developing new comics, and leading comedy and improv workshops for professional development. Mina is also a renowned gala and fundraiser host and has appeared alongside Dick Cavett at Cipriani’s in New York City. She holds a master in arts dducation from Harvard University and consults with the Arthur Miller Foundation and the New York City Department of Education.
