Friday night, April 29th, the film, The Princess Diaries 2, is being co-sponsored with the Remarkable Theater in support of BOOKED for the Evening, where Shonda Rhimes is being honored. This is the opener for the Remarkable Theater's drive-in season. The screening takes place outdoors at the Imperial Parking Lot, located just behind the Library.
Mia (Anne Hathaway), still coming to terms with her life as a princess, graduates from Princeton. She returns to Genovia with her best friend, Lilly (Heather Matarazzo), and Mia’s grandmother (Julie Andrews) informs her that Mia cannot become queen unless she is married within 30 days. Nicholas Devereaux (Chris Pine) is one of her top suitors, though he might be more interested in the crown than in Mia.
This rom-com from 2004 was written by Shonda Rhimes. Garry Marshall returned to direct and Debra Martin Chase and Whitney Houston to produce. Fun Fact: The song “Your Crowning Glory” which is a duet between Julie Andrews and Raven-Symoné was the first time Andrews sung in public or on screen since she had throat surgery in 1997.
