An event every month that begins at 6:00 pm on day Second of the month, repeating until Wed, August 10
The Westport Library and Pause + Purpose invite the public to "Self-Checkout," a new monthly event series that explores the “why” and “how” of mindfulness through the inner “self."
Science shows that practicing meditation just a few minutes everyday can improve mental health and emotional wellbeing, increase focus, productivity, and creativity, promote kindness, reduce anxiety, manage addiction and pain, help heal grief, and even regulate sleep. Curious how meditation can work for you, your family, career, and community? Get started, or continue your journey at “Self-Checkout,” where you can expect a wide range of experts, activities, performances, and discussion.
Afterwards, browse the curated selection of books that are available to check out and take with you!
This is an IN-PERSON event which occurs the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
The next event is Wednesday, July 13.
The theme is Building Better Results with Visualization.

Building Better Results with Visualization:
Visualization involves imagining the outcome of something before it happens. It’s a powerful practice often used by everyone from champion athletes to elite speakers. Come learn how to use visualization to create your ideal day and manifest your desired results. We’ll explore the habits of highly successful individuals followed by a guided visualization meditation.
For Jessica Grunenberg, the intense pressure of the newsroom and demoralizing nature of the stories she interacted with took a physical and mental toll. Yoga, Reiki, meditation, and self-help books provided the sense of calm and peace Jessica was looking for and helped shift her focus towards a more positive outlook.
Jessica practiced yoga and guided meditation, but it took the Covid-19 pandemic for her to realize the need to deepen her practice and knowledge. In the summer of 2020, Jessica completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course at Yale University, and in the fall of 2021, she became a 200-hour certified Yoga & Meditation Instructor at Kaia Yoga.
