Why You Should Come
A few years ago, a great white shark was tracked right off the shores of Connecticut. Naturally, the theme from Jaws began to thump along in the back of everyone's minds as they set up their beach blankets, looked out into the waves of Long Island Sound, and wondered, “Am I about to become lunch?”
Bachar will answer that question and share what it’s really like swimming with hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, bull sharks, and the fearsome great white. He’ll also dive into treacherous territories with close-up photos and videos alongside killer whales, on the rim of exploding volcanoes, and tracking moose in the north woods of Connecticut.
About the Speaker
Kevin Bachar is a multi EMMY-winning documentary director and WGA screenwriter. Bachar is one of the premier natural history filmmakers in the world — If you watch Shark Week, National Geographic, or PBS, you’ve seen his work! He describes himself as "the idiot in the water with sharks, or crawling in caves filming vampire bats." He has produced over 50 wildlife films, including 15 focusing on sharks, as well as eight PBS Nature Specials, including his most recent, The Sharks of Hawaii.
The Inhabitant, a horror film written by Bachar, was released in theaters through Lionsgate and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Apple+. Complimenting his filmmaking, Bachar has lectured and given presentations at prestigious institutions such as Rutgers University, American University, and the Rubin Museum of Art.
