The lawsuits against Perdue Pharma and the Sackler family have garnered a lot of attention in the press. But the suit against Joseph Bierbaum may have a more direct and more immediate impact on Connecticuters.
In case you missed the event, you may watch the recorded program here.
On Monday, October 2, the Y’s Men of Westport / Weston will present William Tong, the attorney general of the state of Connecticut, at The Westport Library. AG Tong will talk about how his office fights – and wins – against wrongdoers in the state. He will discuss the collapse of Mr. Bierbaum’s for-profit colleges, Stone Academy and Paier School of Art.
In a suit filed in July, the AG alleges that Bierbaum “told lies to” students and that when the schools collapsed, leaving 800 students in the dark, Bierbaum’s assets should pay for restitution. The attorney general will also talk about the cooperative, multi-state effort to hold the Sacklers and Perdue Pharma accountable for their actions and how payments from that suit will benefit Connecticuters.
