Understanding College Financial Aid and Paying For College

Event Details
The Westport Library and Staples High School Counseling Department are pleased to present Understanding College Financial Aid and Paying For College with expert college planning and financial aid consultant Bill Smith.
Mr. Smith will discuss assessing potential eligibility for need- and merit-based aid, how to identify colleges that might meet need and offer merit aid, and creating a plan to pay for college.
This program will be geared toward all students in Grades 9-11 and their families, including those in the early stages of the college exploration process at various levels of need.
Why You Should Come
Paying for college is one of the biggest financial decisions a family will make — and navigating aid, scholarships, and real costs can feel overwhelming. This session offers clear, practical guidance from a nationally respected college financial planning expert who specializes in helping families make informed choices that will empower students.
While it may seem early for some, we are mindful of the complexities of the college search process when finances are a consideration, as well as the need for students and families to have realistic college conversations based on accurate information.
