Celebrate the extraordinary life, legendary feats, and enduring influence of Harry Houdini with magician Chris Lengyel. 100 years after Houdini’s death on October 31, his name remains synonymous with daring escapes, astonishing illusions, and seemingly impossible feats.

Lengyel will bring Houdini’s remarkable story to life, tracing his rise from struggling performer to international sensation and exploring the skill, ingenuity, and showmanship that made him one of the most famous entertainers of all time. Along the way, he’ll explain and demonstrate and some of Houdini’s most celebrated tricks, giving audiences a firsthand glimpse into the magic that captivated the world.

Part history, part live performance, this special centennial evening reveals why, a century later, Houdini continues to fascinate, mystify, and inspire.

About the Instructor

Magician Chris Lengyel has been wowing audiences for more than two decades with his distinctive blend of skill, humor, and showmanship. He has performed for the likes of Penn & Teller and truTV’s Impractical Jokers, worked with the Houdini Museum in Manhattan, and spent years honing his craft. Along the way, he has earned the nickname “The Brewery Magician,” bringing his magic to more than 50 breweries across the East Coast and turning an unexpected setting into his signature stage.

Library Refund Policy

Programs, prices, and dates are subject to change. Tickets are non-transferable between events but may be passed along to another attendee. All sales are final. Refunds are issued only if The Westport Library cancels an event outright. In the case of a postponement or reschedule, refunds are not guaranteed provided the event takes place within 12 months of the original date. Refunds, when applicable, are issued in the original form of payment.
