Podcasts have become a vital part of our media and storytelling landscape. It seems like everyone's got a favorite — or has created one — or wants to create one!

But how should you go about creating one? In this course, we'll explore how to use the principles and practices of design thinking to refine and create meaningful audio projects that serve your target audiences. Taught by CT Public's Deputy Director of Storytelling Meg Dalton, the class will meet January 29  to February 26, from 7 to 8 pm in the Library's Brooks Place program room (class will not meet on 2/19 as the Library is closed for Presidents Day).

This will be a highly collaborative course. You'll be working alongside your fellow students to develop, refine, and pitch a concept for a podcast over the course of four sessions. It may require a little bit of work outside the classroom!

Note: Class size is limited. There is a registration fee of $25, and registration is for all 4 sessions. The Westport Library wants to ensure that all interested students are able to participate in Verso University courses. If the registration fee is a barrier to entry for you, please contact [email protected].

About our Verso University Instructor:

Meg Dalton is an audio producer and journalist who reports on everything from our obsession with Mars to the future of death care in America. She’s currently the deputy director of storytelling for Connecticut Public and previously worked for The Takeaway from WNYC, in collaboration with WGBH and PRX. Her audio work has also appeared on ‎Mobituaries with Mo Rocca, WSHU, Marketplace, WBAI, and NPR. She earned her master's degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism, where she specialized in audio storytelling and narrative writing. Off the clock, she enjoys making horrible puns, attempting to hike every national park, and hanging out with her cat, Nora Ephron.
